Happy Spring...finally!

Hello again!




Spring has finally sprung here in eastern Nebraska...the tulips popped
this week and trees are leafing out. Such a beautiful time of
year...can't wait to get out and do some plein air painting!




Since we last visited, I've been invited to participate in a number of
exhibitions and events. Two upcoming exhibitions opening in the next
ten days are featured in the article below.

Once again this year, A Flower Basket and my gallery are teaming up to
serve my homemade chocolate amaretto hazelnut truffles with two lovely
red wines. We will also have a very nice chardonnay which we are
serving with homemade potato leek soup, made from a recipe from the
cooking journals of Claude Monet! There are 28 local businesses
participating this year. Hope to see you!




As alway, thanks so much for your time, your friendship and your
support of my art and my gallery...I am grateful for you! I hope to see
you at an event, exhibition, a workshop or at my gallery soon! ,
Gallery hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Other
hours by chance or by appointment (if I'm working upstairs in the
studio, the gallery is open!).

First Annual Spring Art Show and Sale

Five of my paintings will be included in this exhibition featuring
myself and three other local women artists: Katrina Swanson, Lisa
Worrall and Judith Anthony Johnston. Ginger's Hangup, 8455 Frederick,
Omaha. Opening reception Saturday April 27th from 6 to 9pm. Show runs
through May 25th.




American Plains Artists Juried Signature Member Exhibition

Four of my paintings are included in this exhibition which will be held
at the Museum of Western Art in Kerrville, Texas. Opening reception is
May 4th from 2 to 4pm. The exhibition runs through June 29th.

STILL TIME TO REGISTER! "The Nuts and Bolts of the Art Business"
Saturday, April 27th 9am to 4pm $125 Lecture/Power Point/Handouts.
Topics will include websites, newsletters (snail mail and email!),
social media marketing, putting together your customer list/mailing
lists, advertising, getting your work out there through galleries,
juried shows and plein air events, tracking your inventory and
finances… and much more. Limit 12 students. Bring a notebook and your
questions.


"Improve Your Paintings with Value and Color" Friday thru Sunday, June
21st-23rd, 9am to 4pm each day. $375. Limit 8 students. In this
workshop we will tackle two elements of painting which I find students
nearly always struggle with: value and color. Day one will focus on
values through a number of different exercises in black, white and
gray. On day two we will explore color, including, by popular demand,
how to mix a variety of GREENS! On day three we will work on both value
and color together. This is an indoor workshop.


"Capturing Light and Color En Plein Air" Friday thru Sunday, October
11th-13th, 9am to 4pm each day. $375. Limit 10 students. In this
intensive 3 day workshop you will learn Debra's techniques for
capturing beautiful light, atmosphere and color painting from life
outdoors, en plein air! This is workshop is for students who have
either previously attended one of my plein air workshops or have basic
experience in plein air painting.

Open Studio Portrait Sessions

These portrait sessions are held once a month on Monday nights-no
formal instruction. Please RSVP if you plan to attend - limited to 10
artists. $15 per person...model will be provided. You may draw or paint
- bring your own supplies. We have chairs, tables and some table top
easels are available if needed. Next session: May 13th!
