The Latest News from Debra Joy Groesser Fine Art "Capturing the Spirit" _____ "Sun Worshippers" 8x10 oil - Available! "Sun Worshippers" 8x10 oil - Available! Happy Autumn! Hello again! It's my favorite time of year...the cool crisp evenings and mornings, getting out the flannel shirts and sweatshirts, and oh, the beautiful colors of the trees! I'm looking forward to getting out and painting the beautiful fall colors here in eastern Nebraska. The painting above, "Sun Worshippers" (8x10 oil), was painted early last month at a farm in western Douglas County, Nebraska...something completely different for me...and something I'll definitely try again next season! It's available...click on the image for more information. September was a busy month! I judged a plein air event in Fraser, Colorado, in early September, did a painting demo (which sold) and a talk, made many new friends and got to spend time with a couple of dear friends there as well. That was followed by the opening week of the American Impressionist Society National Juried Exhibition in Boulder, Colorado. The exhibition runs through October 22nd at Mary Williams Fine Arts, so if you're in the area, be sure to stop by and see this amazing show! You can also view the online catalog here . October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In memory of our friend Cynthia Sturgeon, who founded Project Pink'd, a local nonprofit that provides services for breast cancer patients from diagnosis to end of life, I'm donating 20% of the profits of the sale of my "Faith, Hope and Healing" prints to Project Pink'd from now through Christmas. Cynthia's courageous fight with breast cancer ended last month. Through her organization, she helped thousands of women, including me, through our battles with this terrible disease. It's only fitting to be able to give back in honor and memory of her and the tremendous legacy she leaves. See below for the image of the print and link to purchase. To learn more about Project Pink'd, click here . Thank you very much for your support! Show season is winding down now, so it's time to start gearing up for the holidays. I do still have time do take a very limited number of holiday commissions, so if you're interested in commissioning a painting please let me know as soon as possible. Paintings make wonderful family heirlooms and are a very special gift! SAVE THE DATES! I'll be having a Studio/Gallery Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 19th, from 10am to 5pm and Sunday, November 20th, from noon to 5pm. Hope you can join us for refreshments and some holiday shopping! I leave you this time with a beautiful quote I saw a couple of days ago... "Autumn leaves don't fall, they fly. They take their time and wander on this their only chance to soar." - Delia Owens, Where the Crawdads Sing Be well my friends...until next time... With sincere gratitude, Debra Joy and Don Groesser Image 4801672 _____ "Faith, Hope and Healing" Prints to support Project Pink'd From now until the Christmas, 20% of the profits from the sale of prints of "Faith, Hope and Healing" (pictured here), will be donated to Project Pink'd , a local nonprofit which provides help and support to breast cancer warriors. The View from Sawhill Ponds "The View from Sawhill Ponds" 8x10 plein air oil Available through Mary Williams Fine Arts in Boulder CO! While in Boulder for the AIS opening week festivities, we did a number of "paintouts" where our artist members had specific locations they could go and paint if they chose to. This was one of our locations - Sawhill Ponds - with a beautiful view of the Flatirons. The colors were just starting to change - so beautiful! I loved the reflections in the pond and the brilliant blue of the mountain shadows. _____ "Retired Painting Sale" Majestic Moran "Majestic Moran" 11x14 oil (plein air) Was $1200, now $800 framed Foggy Morning Reiboldts Creek "Foggy Morning, Reiboldts Creek" 9x12 oil (plein air) Was $1100, now $700 framed Each year around the holidays I add more pieces to my "Retired Painting Sale" collection.
