This was painted from reference photos I took during a trip to the Valentine, Nebraska area in 2020. Hubby and I decided to take the back roads to Omaha and this was one of the treats we found on the way! The Norden Chute is amazing...the Niobrara River narrows here into a spectacular horseshoe shaped waterfall and a narrow channel before opening up again. It was a very unexpected pleasure to discover and even more of a joy to paint it!
This piece was part of my "Yes, This is Nebraska" solo exhibition at the Bone Creek Museum in David City, Nebraska, in 2021/22. This piece was also included in the New Masters Juried Exhibition at the Hoff Family Arts and Culture Center/PACE, Council Bluffs IA. The show ran through September 2023.
